Consultations

Straight answers on what the code actually requires for your building, before a surveyor or fire marshal answers it for you.

Request consultations

Every facility sits under a stack of overlapping rules: the state-adopted fire code, NFPA standards by reference, and for health care, the CMS and Joint Commission overlay. Our consultants read that stack for your specific occupancy and tell you what applies, what does not, and what to fix first.

What is included

  • Occupancy classification and applicable-code determination
  • Life Safety Plan review and markup (rated walls, smoke compartments, egress)
  • Pre-survey readiness walks for CMS, Joint Commission and DNV
  • Fire marshal correspondence and violation response support
  • Plan review comments on new construction and renovations
  • Interim Life Safety Measures (ILSM) assessments during construction
  • Written opinions you can hand to an AHJ, insurer or owner

What you receive

A written findings report, prioritized by risk and citing the section that drives each item.

Common questions

Do you contest or appeal citations?

No. We help you understand and respond to them, and we coordinate the correction. The authority having jurisdiction always has the final word.

Which edition of NFPA 101 applies to my hospital?

For CMS-certified health care and ambulatory occupancies it is the 2012 edition, regardless of what the state fire marshal enforces. Both bind at once and the stricter provision wins. That is exactly the kind of question a consultation settles.
