Fire Alarm Inspection & Testing
Visual inspections and functional tests of the fire alarm system on the NFPA 72 schedule, with a device-by-device record.
NFPA 72 sets separate inspection and test frequencies for the control panel, batteries, initiating devices, notification appliances and the communicator that calls the monitoring station. Most of it is annual; some of it is semi-annual or more often. We keep the whole schedule for the building, test what is due, and hand back a record that lists every device, not a summary line.
What is included
- Control panel, power supplies and standby batteries
- Smoke, heat and duct detectors, including sensitivity testing on the interval the standard sets
- Manual pull stations and waterflow / supervisory switches
- Horns, strobes and voice evacuation, including audibility and visibility checks
- Communicator and monitoring-station signal verification
- Elevator recall, door holders, fan shutdown and other interfaced functions
- Device-level report with pass, fail and not-tested per device
What you receive
An NFPA 72 inspection and test record listing every device and its result, with deficiencies photographed and cited.
Common questions
Do you replace the whole report if one device fails?
No. A failed device is a deficiency on the report with a recommended correction. The report stays the record of that test; the correction gets its own record when it is done.
Our monitoring company already tests the communicator. Is that enough?
A communicator check confirms the signal path. NFPA 72 also expects the devices themselves to be inspected and tested on their own frequencies, which is the part a monitoring company does not do.
