Fire Door Inspection

A fire door only works if it closes and latches on its own with nothing in the way. NFPA 80 requires an annual inspection of each door assembly against a specific checklist, and CMS and The Joint Commission expect to see that record for every rated opening in a health care facility. We inspect each opening, photograph what fails, and give you a list a carpenter can work from.

Common questions
Which doors count as fire doors?
Any door in a rated wall: stair and corridor doors, doors in smoke and fire barriers, hazardous-area doors, and shaft doors. If you are not sure which walls are rated, that is what a Life Safety Plan review settles first.
